Overview

The main objective of the proposed project is to obtain new fundamental knowledge about new composite materials-urea-silicate matrix with incorporated particles of metals, oxides and chalcogenides.

The research project will clarify the physical and chemical processes in organic-inorganic polymer with the introduced particles and the influence of a controlled change in the structure on the fundamental properties of the matter.
Key hypothesis in the study is that the change in the composition and the addition of various types of particles in the matrix will initiate change of the properties and structure of the material. By varying the conditions of preparation of the hybrid the relationship composition-structure-properties of the material will be determined. The polymer matrix in pure form has certain properties that would be expected to change with variation of conditions.

These materials will be used as a dispersion medium (matrix) in which composites with different functional properties will be derived. The introduction of variety of types and properties of particles with sizes as small as possible will change the structure and dimensional behaviour of the composite, making it a newly multifunctional material.
